Radically change the life of another

Imagine

radically changing the life of a child living in extreme conditions in Manafwa Uganda. You can help us be God’s hands and feet on earth through improving their circumstances by providing better education, medical conditions, nutrition and even encouragement. We ask you to come along side us and support the mission by becoming at $35 per month partner; because together, through Christ, we can do it.

Another way you can help is through one-time donations to help build a school. The community has been wiped out by aids, malaria and extreme poverty, producing many orphans and widows. Be a part of building a school and library as a witness of the love of Jesus. You will also help empower the widows to see past their current poverty and become self-sustaining through equipping them with agriculture and other business instruction.

Returning to the familiar and finding its changed

Does it seem strange to you that life continues when you lose someone? Everything that was is no more and things that are similar are completely different yet the same. To all the widows out there I’m sure you can relate. Today I joined a gym to try and build up my strength for Africa as well as emotional stamina the physical is just as important. My husband and I went to the YMCA when he was going through cancer, it helped with his strength and constant nerve pain from the surgeries. Now I am going to a different gym but even though its not the same place and he is gone now it still is similar to what was. The weight lifting machines are there and the indoor track mimics the other but this time it’s a new memory. Perhaps new memories are what is important when moving on in life after tragic loss. The new memories don’t push out the old but instead fill in the cracks of the shattered life left behind. Perhaps over time those memories will create a beautiful mosaic of filtered light that blends the two lives into one.

I have to make another sacrifice for this new found hobby, no more internet. Trade in the wifi for some exercise to save $19.99 a month from Comcast. Every penny counts to stretch out my time as a ‘missionary’. It was a bit humbling when filling out a form about income when I scribbled a big zero in for annual salary. Slightly insane when today I counted up the kids in uganda that I have given my resources, time, and love to. Total tally is up to 199 little faces and 3 others in another village. It should scare me knowing I have no income and I’ll be homeless come March while packing crates to move to Africa to live a very very very sobering life. All with the knowledge that my boyfriend will be staying behind and I’ll be solo for months in a far far far away land. Is that the beginning of a book? Once upon a time in a far far far away land lived a small girl with 199 children plus 3 who thinks it possible to feed them all.

Flip the story on it’s head and it should read.

The gift of compassion this season

What starts from the small is even more precious. Over the weekend we were blessed with 3 new supporters for 3 of our new kids.

Little Mercy Age 7 who was orphaned and lives with one of the volunteer teachersLittle Rose who had the terrible burn on her wrist from porridge. She was crying one day from the burn and we got her the necessary antibiotics to clean the wound.Lastly Emma Age 8 a boy with a very bad hearing impediment. While at the school we met him but sadly never got the chance to take him to the clinic. Hopefully in December we can get him all taken care of with medical and educational needs.

We may not have a school building but we do have a start at showing compassion to these children!

We have a Mission Statement…a Goal….and the start of many compassionate opportunities.

What does You helping really do this Giving Tuesday

It’s just great to see the progress of our new page called ‘Our Kids’. Sometimes you have to start somewhere and we are starting one little heart at a time with our kids in Uganda. We are a little charity with Big dreams to impact the flavor of the world and show compassion to those we find. Right now we have around 185 kids to care for and if you check out our new Our Kids page you can see some of them so far. So take a minute and peak at a few of the Most Needy kids. Check back often as I am updating it regularly and adding more kids and info on each of them.

As we start to get up and running we will be changing and improving as we go along. It’s pretty exciting seeing a dream come to reality.

We know it’s hard to gain trust and build relationships in life which is why we go for transparency with your donations. Right now 100% goes directly to the ministry. What does this mean? Well we have no employees yet and we have no overhead of a building. So when you give $35 a month or one time gift, that all goes to the ministry. Honestly at some point as we grow Sarah (the founder) will need a payroll as you can’t eat fake food in America but for now we put all the money back to the kids, widows, and those we find in Africa that are in need of a bit of compassion. While I am in Africa I use your money to get from village to village and find the kids with either a physical injury or an emotional need and act immediately to provide help. While in Africa there is lodging, transportation, and food to keep me going in order to find each child… and your donation helps keep me going.

What would YOU do when faced with an impossible situation?

It only takes one step to impact change and sometimes it comes in the smallest packages. Little Rose burned herself on porridge and no one tended to her wound. But how could they when even they have no where to turn for help. The clinics set up to help them for free charge fees when they should not. The cost of a taxi to town is beyond there payroll.

What would you do when you have no options?

I am just thankful we were there when she burned herself in order to take action and get the antibiotics needed. None of that would have been possible without those silent helpers who donate a little here and there to help us help others.

We are a small charity for sure and finally getting our feet wet with a more specific purpose. To help these children out in a village located in the Manafwa district outside a city called Tororo. The school was started a few years back with the hope to provide a safe learning environment for the orphans, disabled, and impoverished children in the area when the Government school wasn’t fulfilling that need. So yes we are small and yes we are just learning the ropes but IMAGINE what we can do with ONE child at a time shown that bit of COMPASSION we are led to do. So let it begin with little Rose receiving that compassion and attention she needs.

Possibilities of what we can do together

It’s my hope to share with all of you the little moments spent with children in Africa so that you can imagine how much it helps to just ‘Be’ in the presence of others. We are a small charity but with your help we can help many. First we want to at least get some school fees paid and perhaps a school uniform for those that couldn’t afford one because it raises self esteem. When I go back in December we might even start a pig farm to help the people living there support themselves and the school they hope to build because it’s the right thing to do. Imagine what you could do with a little dose of Possibilities! With one step forward you can partner with us to make sure each child gets that firm hug and eye contact to know compassion is real because deep down all we need is a hug some days.

You know your on the right path when you hear the word Free

Can you believe that today I had my own little miracle happen? God takes care of widows and today after spending almost 3 hours at the mechanic to get my oil changed he worked his magic. Free! the $40 it was supposed to cost was on the house today because they took forever trying to find an oil filter for my car. But wait! It doesn’t stop there! My next visit is free too!

So I have no income and give away what little bit of money I do have, but at least my oil change was taken care of today and tomorrow:)

My salary is paid with long waits of patience opportunities and unconventional ways of supplementing a ‘normal’ income. Yea it’s not the most comfortable or risk free way of living but it beats paying $40 I didn’t have today for routine car maintenance at a place I hadn’t visited since Andy died. Who knows what tomorrow will bring?! Perhaps my utility bills will randomly get lost in the system.
