Great card and activity

image

Someone printed off an ecard and attached it to cookies and placed it on my desk today. I’m pretty sure I know who she was;-) Thanks brie.. I always enjoy your humor. The hearts are clay hearts I made at gildas club today with another friend. It is odd that at a cancer support class that the majority of people are volunteers and not people with cancer. But still a nice group of ladies.. Better than the bead class I tried earlier. The instructor was very nice and helpful 🙂 Thanks Marybeth for coming… Your polka dot heart was cute!

2012 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 3,700 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 6 years to get that many views.

Stardust in my eyes

We read princess bride as a bedtime story while andy recovered from surgery. It was always our favorite movie, our first movie when we met college.
“As you wish” the farm boy westley would say to buttercup, as you wish. We drew similarities between the story of true love to our love.

Now post surgery we are reading Stardust, which was made into another favorite movie.
A fallen star ends up in the land of faerie where she falls in love with a shop boy. In the book they discover there love entirely differently than in the movie. The star tells the man that a star and a mortal man can never have children. The star also is limping the entire time from a broken leg.
The significance of this coincidence is That when I first met andy I limped on a bad leg too but we didn’t know then that a Star and a man cant have a child.
Love can endure and grow thru unspeakable pain, even if we knew those 13 years ago that we would be denied that one thing … just out of reach….I still would have chosen my mortal man, and he would never let his star out of his sight.

Hang in there andy…it is so dark right now but I have a secret cure, I’ll just shine so brightly that you will be blinded by my stardust and not the pain..

Gifts

20130206-181143.jpg

I’m noticing a pattern at work this week.. Today I got a gift card to design1 salon, yesterday I got a valet service certificate ‘with a bird on it lol’ for when it snows at work, day before I got pretty flowers and applesauce. Hmmm…what is going on here, I think the world has turned upside down.

I’m not quite myself these days. We have bad days and good. This morning it seems I looked bad as one coworker observed. I don’t even notice when I’m tired or showing the wear and tear from these last long months. We are so tired but its nice to get little gifts from anonymous people that care.
Every day is another day and we go thru the steps to cope and each day andy shows signs of feeling better. We will close our eyes and image that tomorrow will be better, no Today will be better, must live in the ‘now’.

Some words are said silently

image

Sometimes in life you fight against help from others. Sometimes in life you find certain things trite and insignificant. Sometimes you don’t realize what you have until it’s threatened. Sometimes young people are forced to face life and death too early. Cancer is scarey and serious..face it one day at a time. Even when we have a moment where we fix a furnace together and smile and only minutes later andy gets sick from a harmless pancake. Followed by a serious conversation with HR about life insurance in case of the unthinkable. We cant not think of it though. Face it straight on and try to find humor now to survive tomorrow…(32 going on 80 years old)

Dinner = feeling better

Long day as usual, although, Today at work there was applesauce and flowers on my desk…forgot to take a photo but the flowers are beautiful, pink flowers in water and river rock stones.

Still no heat but tomorrow we will pick up the motor and hopefully all goes well.
Andy is doing better since he’s ambitious enough to dismantle the furnace blower and install the new motor. Not too complicated to fix, I might pick up a wrench and help out too…another memory of us fixing things together. True love and best friends for life!

Andy made me dinner today…that’s a big sign of the chemo side effects wearing down.

Next week we go again for the long day of chemo, the ups and downs continue. Valentines chemo day, what a way to say I love you:) maybe we will wear all pink ha.
